I went to the local Dollar Store today and they had TONS of these guys just hanging around awaiting orders. I brought home four bags of them. Here are photo's of my first platoon.
Close-up of the troops in preparing for deployment.
During a practice mission - the platoon secures the keyboard! I left a couple of them in the grocery store this evening - and one on the ATM Machine. I can't wait to run errands tomorrow.

Very nice, eaprez - how did you make the little labels? My soldiers have to make do with hand-written on masking tape. I want my troops to be fully up-to-date.
I agree, I've also got to come up with a better system for the labels. The hand labelling takes too long.
Maybe I need to use some kind of label sheets or something.
You're lookin' good kiddo! Hugs.
I use address labels and use the printer. You can get more on a label (if you choose) by using the printer. I used the "cargo" font so it would look like printing on crates...like in war movies...crates carrying weapons etc. I stick them together for a double sided label and you can print 2 different slogans this way. I made a hole in one corner with a hole puncher...made a cut to the hole and it slips neatly around the leg of the soldier.
eaprez you do have elegant labels.
Prez - your platoon looks salty, ready to eat their own plastic guts, and then ask for seconds. Go get 'em boyz !!!
KOMMANDER PREZ, YOU'RE TROOPS APPEAR TO BE WELL PREPARED, AND WE EAGERLY AWAIT YOUR REPORTS FROM THE FIELD!
K.K.
All I did for the labels was use my spreadsheet program. I have a MAC so its Appleworks - for most of you its part of your Office package. I just did two columns - one Said "Bring the Troops Home Now" and the other said "Bring Us Home Now" Only had to type it once as you can drag it down to copy how ever many lines you need. I printed it then cut them out and attached them to my soilders with a little scotch tape. My next batch will say "Bush Lied - Soilders Died" and "No WMD - Bring Us Home NOW". Someone should come up with a list of suggested 'slogans' for these little guys.
....oh a thought....perhaps on one side we can put the address to this site so people can log on and see what this is about!!!
Wonferful idea here. I'd like to run an article at AFP on this. Who should I contact?
Me...I guess, Kvatch (aka Kommander Kvatch). Though I didn't originate the idea, I started the Kommandos Project as a way to celebrate my other blog's anniversary. (Been doing the Army Men thing for about 3 months before starting this blog.)
You can reach me via my profile. It contains my email address.
Eaprez...such an excellent idea...that we already thought of it. Most of us have been doing this for the Memorial Day Protest. :-)
I swear, where do y'all get your toy soldiers? I got a freakin' bag from Walgreens that cost $5, and they were JANKY. They didn't have that sturdy platform that provides a solid base from which to stand. Mine had a freakin' seam on the bottom which caused my Marines to tip over.
Next time I need to a) find better soldiers and b) make a neater label.
Mags,
Try the Dollar Store.
Brilliant strategy!
